Direct Support Professional
Working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Development Homes, Inc. is a deeply meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities. As a DSP, you will have the chance to work closely with people of diverse abilities, providing personalized care and assistance that is tailored to their unique needs. More than simply providing care, you will be a beacon of support, helping individuals with disabilities advocate for their rights, pursue their passions, and confidently tackle daily tasks. From enjoying meals together to creating a comfortable home environment, you will be there to turn every moment into a cherished memory. As a DSP, you won't just be a caregiver, but a friend, mentor, and source of inspiration. You will play a critical role in helping individuals with disabilities achieve their dreams and become empowered to live independently.
Your daily routine may vary, but there is a set of basic responsibilities that you can expect to perform based on the needs of the person or people you are supporting. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Personal Care Support: Offer hands-on assistance with personal hygiene routines, including activities like tooth brushing, bathing, hair care, and grooming, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and confident.
- Respectful Toileting Assistance: Provide support for individuals who need help with using the restroom or changing, always prioritizing their comfort and dignity,
- Household Management: Aid with various household tasks such as sweeping, dishwashing, trash disposal, and laundry, contributing to a tidy and organized living environment.
- Culinary Assistance: Assist in basic cooking, meal preparation, and feeding individuals in need of support.
- Medication Management: Administer medications following precise protocols and guidelines, ensuring the health and well-being of our residents.
- Detailed Documentation: Thoroughly document individuals' progress, challenges, and achievements, actively participating in training and development opportunities.
- Inclusive Social Engagement: Foster a sense of belonging by ensuring everyone is included in social activities like UND sports, Special Olympics, arts and crafts, music therapy, and Friday Night Dances within the Grand Forks community.

Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Any combination of training and experience demonstrating an ability to perform the duties described is preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Position requires successful completion of criminal background, child abuse, and neglect check, and a pre-employment drug test to be eligible for employment.
- Current and valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and insurable driving record following company guidelines.
Compensation and Benefits:
Direct Support Professional (DSP): $19.00/hr.
- Additional $1 on weekends worked.
